AndoAndoAndo is an independent watch and design company based in Helsinki, Finland, founded by Japanese designer Yu Ando. Combining Japanese design sensibilities with Nordic influences, the brand creates watches that deliberately move away from conventional microbrand aesthetics. Its philosophy centres on inclusivity, individuality and fun, with designs intended for different wrist sizes and personalities rather than being constrained by traditional gender categories. The company's first watch, the A-1 Automatic, established this approach with a compact 37 × 42 mm case and an unconventional two-piece construction inspired partly by Étienne-Louis Boullée's Cénotaphe à Newton. Later creations have included the symmetrical A-2, Vinyl Record Automatic, Astral Spaceship, UFO and various artistic limited editions. The brand also produces watch components and collaborates with artists and other independent creators.
Yu Ando is the Japanese designer and founder of AndoAndoAndo. Originally from Tottori, Japan, he studied Environmental Design at university before spending more than a decade working as a writer for Japanese online media, including publications such as Gizmodo Japan and Discovery Channel Japan. His interest in design continued through projects in both Japan and Finland, eventually motivating him to return seriously to product design. In 2019, he developed the first concept for what became the A-1 Automatic, producing multiple prototypes before establishing AndoAndoAndo in 2020. Now based in Helsinki, Ando designs the watches and many of the components himself, working with manufacturers for specialised technical processes.
