Karim Faisali is a British entrepreneur and Co-founder & Director of Beaucroft Watches, which he established in 2020. With a professional background spanning multiple start-ups and industries, Karim has built his expertise around brand development, growth strategy, operations and partnerships. His passion for mechanical watches stems from their unique contrast with today’s increasingly digital world. For Karim, a mechanical watch represents simplicity, tradition and character an analogue object whose imperfections are part of its enduring beauty. His connection to watches is also deeply personal. His first watch was a 1960s Omega DeVille, gifted to him by his mother, which he continues to wear today. Karim currently wears the Beaucroft Element x Penfold Limited Edition, a 75-piece collaboration created for British Watchmakers’ Day 2024. A frequent traveller, he particularly appreciates the GMT complication for its practicality and connection to family across time zones.
Curious, confident and calm, Karim lives by a simple philosophy: “Be Positive, Be Relentless, Build a Process.” Away from watches and business, he is a passionate quiz enthusiast and has even appeared on television quiz shows.
What
inspired you and Matt to establish Beaucroft Watches?
Matt and I shared a belief that there was room for a British watch
brand that combined thoughtful design, honest value and genuine attention to
detail. We weren't interested in creating watches simply to follow trends, as we
wanted to create pieces people would be proud to wear for years, and eventually
pass on.
From the beginning, our vision was to build a brand with substance.
Every decision, from design to customer experience, has been driven by the idea
that lasting relationships are more important than short-term success.
How
do your respective strengths complement each other as co-founders?
One of our greatest strengths is that we bring different
perspectives while sharing the same values.
Matt leads the creative and product development side of the business, ensuring every watch reflects our design philosophy. My focus is on strategy, operations, partnerships, and building the brand. Because we trust each other's expertise, we're able to challenge ideas constructively while always working towards the same goal.
What
were the biggest challenges during the early years?
Like many independent brands, we had to earn credibility from scratch. Without decades of history behind us, every customer had to place their trust in what we were building.
Managing production, maintaining quality, financing growth and
building awareness all while remaining true to our vision required patience.
Looking back, those challenges forced us to build a stronger, more resilient
business and taught us never to compromise on quality or customer experience.
How
has Beaucroft built trust and loyalty among collectors?
We've always tried to be transparent, approachable, and genuinely engaged with our customers. We listen to feedback, communicate openly, and stand behind our products. Many of our collectors have followed our journey from the very beginning, and we're incredibly grateful for that continued support. Those relationships are one of the things I'm most proud of.
How
important is storytelling and brand identity in today's competitive watch
industry?
It's incredibly important, but the story has to be authentic.
People aren't simply buying a watch anymore—they're investing in the people behind it, the philosophy and the journey. A compelling story only works if it's supported by genuine values and a product that delivers on its promises. We try to ensure our story reflects who we really are rather than something created purely for marketing.
What
does British assembly mean for Beaucroft’s future?
It's a significant milestone and one we've been working towards for
some time.
Bringing assembly to Britain gives us greater oversight of quality while strengthening our connection to British watchmaking. It also opens new opportunities for future product development and collaboration within the growing UK watch industry. It's another step in our long-term commitment to building Beaucroft as a genuinely British brand.
What
qualities do you believe distinguish successful independent watch brands from
the rest?
Independent brands don't have the marketing budgets or heritage of larger companies, so they have to earn every customer's trust through the quality of their products and the way they treat people.
What
industry changes have most impacted independent brands like Beaucroft?
The rise of online communities and social media has transformed the
industry.
Collectors today are incredibly knowledgeable and connected. They share experiences, discuss every detail, and hold brands to high standards. While that creates greater competition, it also gives independent brands the opportunity to reach enthusiasts around the world without relying on traditional retail networks. It's made the industry more accessible and far more dynamic.
How
does direct collector engagement shape Beaucroft’s growth?
It's been absolutely fundamental.
Some of our best ideas and strongest relationships have come from conversations with collectors, whether that's at watch fairs, through social media, or online forums. Those interactions help us understand what people value and remind us that behind every order is a person who's chosen to support an independent business. That connection is something we never take for granted.
What
legacy do you hope Beaucroft leaves in watchmaking?
I hope Beaucroft is remembered as a British watch company that earned people's trust by creating beautifully designed, thoughtfully made timepieces with integrity and purpose.
What milestone has made you the proudest since founding
Beaucroft Watches?
There have been many memorable moments, but seeing our watches worn
and appreciated by collectors across the world is probably the most rewarding.
More recently, establishing British assembly has been particularly meaningful because it reflects how far we've come since we started and where we want to take the brand in the future.
Where
do you see Beaucroft in the next 5–10 years?
Our focus is on sustainable growth rather than rapid expansion.
We want to continue refining our collections, increase our involvement in British watchmaking and introduce new models that remain true to our design philosophy. As we grow, collectors can expect even greater attention to finishing, craftsmanship and the overall ownership experience while maintaining the personal connection that has always defined Beaucroft.
What
message would you like to share with Watch Circle readers and watch enthusiasts
worldwide?
First and foremost, thank you.
Independent watchmaking exists because of the enthusiasm, curiosity, and support of collectors around the world. Whether you've owned Beaucroft from
the beginning or have only recently discovered our brand, we're grateful to be
part of your watch journey.
