Founded in 1828 by Heinrich Moser, H. Moser & Cie. is one of Switzerland’s most distinctive independent watchmakers, combining nearly two centuries of heritage with a deliberately contemporary attitude. Born into a Schaffhausen watchmaking family, Moser built his reputation in Saint Petersburg before establishing his company and a Swiss manufacturing operation. Brand Founder — Heinrich Moser
Heinrich Moser (1805–1874) was a Swiss watchmaker, entrepreneur and industrialist from Schaffhausen. Born into a family of watchmakers, he learned the trade before travelling to Saint Petersburg, where he became a respected supplier to Russian aristocracy. In 1828, he established H. Moser & Cie., building a Swiss manufacturing operation that eventually employed hundreds of artisans and produced an estimated 500,000 watches during his lifetime. His ambition extended beyond horology: he played a major role in Schaffhausen’s industrial development, most famously through the Moser Dam and its hydro-mechanical turbines. His combination of technical expertise, business instinct and uncompromising focus on quality remains central to the brand’s identity today.

Edouard Meylan is CEO and owner of H. Moser & Cie., leading the independent Swiss manufacture with an entrepreneurial approach that balances tradition, innovation and commercial discipline. Born and raised in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, he holds a master’s degree in micro-engineering from EPFL and an MBA from Wharton. After consulting at PwC and gaining experience in the luxury and technology sectors, Meylan returned to watchmaking and co-founded Celsius X VI II. His family acquired H. Moser & Cie. in 2012, and he became CEO in April 2013. Under his leadership, Moser has pursued integrated manufacturing, distinctive design, unconventional materials and provocative collaborations while strengthening its position in independent haute horlogerie.
