DIY Watch Club

DIY Watch Club | Build Your Own Mechanical Watch

DIY Watch Club is a Hong Kong-founded watchmaking experience that brings mechanical watch assembly directly to enthusiasts through complete DIY watchmaking kits. The company grew from the watchmaking workshops of EONIQ, the Hong Kong custom-watch brand founded by entrepreneur and watchmaker Quinn Lai. DIY Watch Club was formally established in April 2020, transforming the hands-on workshop concept into an at-home experience as the pandemic made traditional classes difficult to operate. Each kit includes the watch components, specialist tools and step-by-step video instructions required to assemble a functioning mechanical watch. Its catalogue now spans diver, GMT, expedition, pilot, dress, tourbillon, aviator and chronograph projects, using movements from manufacturers including TMI/Seiko and Miyota. With more than 15,000 successful builds reported on its international shop, the brand's philosophy is simple: learn watchmaking by actually building a watch yourself.

Brand Founder — Quinn Lai

Quinn Lai is the founder of DIY Watch Club and a Hong Kong entrepreneur whose career combines technology, design and horology. After studying and working in Silicon Valley, Lai returned to Hong Kong with the ambition of creating something rooted in local craftsmanship. He founded EONIQ in 2014, developing a customizable mechanical-watch business and hands-on watchmaking workshops. When the pandemic disrupted physical workshops, Lai and his team transformed that experience into DIY Watch Club, allowing enthusiasts around the world to learn mechanical watchmaking from home. Lai's approach is strongly educational: rather than simply selling watches, he wants customers to understand how mechanical timepieces work by assembling them themselves. He continues to lead DIY Watch Club and personally participates in workshops and international events.
